WHAT TO WEAR: Ballet Austin Fête & fête*ish 2017

with Illustrations by Stephanie Jimenez

Our team here at Austin Social Planner are huge fans of  Ballet Austin‘s fabulous party combo of Fête & fête*ish. Each year’s theme is based on one of the season’s ballet performances and, for 2017, fair Verona is where we lay our scene. The Star-Cross’d Fête guests begin the night with a lavish cocktail hour and seated dinner, then end up in the dark streets of Verona for fête*ish.

The fashion worn by the chic crowd is usually an event of it’s own. This year, each guest at fête*ish will be able to commemorate their look with live illustrations by Stephanie Jimenez. We worked with Stephanie and looks straight out of Neiman Marcus – a longtime Fête sponsor – to create our What to Wear guide for the night.

The black tie Fête is a perfect opportunity for a little drama. It’s a rare occasion where you see true gowns out in Austin and this will be one of them. We love this one-shoulder trumpet gown with a bold lip. Don’t forget the accessories, whether it be statement earrings or a sparkly clutch. Neiman Marcus also says red is the color of the season — which is perfect for a Shakespearean night.

The guys can’t go wrong with a classic tuxedo. For a look that stands out in a crowd, play with different jacket colors, textures and prints — anything from the sublimely subtle to a sensational statement piece.

It’s said that the fête*ish party is a scratch on the record … or the edgier twin to the more refined Fête. You’ll see party-goers let their hair down, literally and figuratively. Fashionable and risk-taking cocktail attire will fill the dance floor.

Have fun with your look for this part of the night. We were drawn (pun intended!) to the fun and flirty pieces on trend right now. Red will again make an appearance; expect to see shades from oxblood to fuschia in the crowd.

For the men, a slick fitted suit will always do the trick. Mix it up with a funky pocket square or stylish tie.

Limited tickets for Fête & fête*ish are still available. The two-part event is Friday, September 22nd at the JW Marriott Austin.

For Fête and VIP fête*ish guests, grab your Swag Bag sponsored by Austin Social Planner and The Scout Guide Austin. It’s filled with goodies from some of our favorite spots in town.

Proceeds from Fête and fête*ish support Ballet Austin’s mission of providing exceptional artistic programming and arts education to the Central Texas community.
