RECAP: ZACH Unplugged

Sunday night fundraising events are sometimes tough to populate. But don’t try to tell that to the ardent supporters of ZACH Theatre, who turned out in droves this past weekend for ZACH Unplugged,
a new benefit for Austin’s venerable community/professional playhouse.

ZACH 1

Spearheaded by the petite powerhouse Maria Groten, and beacon of the Texas House, The Honorable Jim Pitts, the evening was a celebration of the performers who make all of ZACH’s productions shine so brightly. The “unplugged” reference was a tip of the hat to the fact the each of the actors who took the stage under the Bobbi Topfer Pavilion Sunday night was only accompanied by a piano or an acoustic guitar.

Among those spotted at this festive Sunday Funday nightcap were Carla and Jack McDonald, Adam Curry and Micky Hoogendijk, Val and Beau Armstrong, Scott Ballew, Pei-San and Daniel Brown, and my table hosts Michael Smothers and Sergio Durante. A wonderful evening all around…we say yes to keeping this one going!
