RECAP: Umlauf Garden Party

In yet another rite of spring, the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum threw its annual Garden Party and it proved to be a blowout! Despite the humidity, which always seems to arrive just in time for this particular soirée, the stylish masses descended on the luxe garden for a sip and taste experience like no other.

Overseen by event Chairs Ashley Holt and Lea Lee (plus Honorary Chairs Deana Saukam and Paul Qui), the committee left no fundraising opportunity unturned – much to their success. Live auction offerings from C3 Presents, Tito’s Handmade Vodka and the coming-this-summer South Congress Hotel among others, brought in an unprecedented haul to support the mission and vision of the museum. The auctioneer did such a great job that he sold a Tito’s party bus package not once, but twice…bringing in nearly $7,000 for that item alone!

In addition to Qui’s eponymous restaurant, guests sampled bites from Fork and Taco, El Alma, Noble Sandwich Co., North, Gordough’s and many others. Delicious cocktails and carefully curated wines came courtesy of Twin Liquors and their superstar ambassador Sandra Spaulding. As the sun set, the garden took on a beautiful blue(ish)/purple hue, courtesy of ILIOS Lighting Design, creating a bluebonnet affect…what a nice addition to this year’s event.

With an event spread out over so much real estate, it was tough to see everyone, but we managed to spot: Andrew Blank and Laura Spurr, Brantley Boyett and Amy Corbin, Jennifer CarnesGeorge Elliman, Lisa Fletcher, Karen Frost, Roger Gordon, T.J. Matthias, Autumn Rich, plus Umlauf Executive Director Nina Seely and Frank Seely.
