RECAP: Texas Film Hall of Fame Dinner and After-Party

Traditionally the “unofficial” start of SXSW, the Texas Film Hall of Fame festivities rank among the top events of Spring in Austin. Benefiting the Austin Film Society, the 13th annual dinner and after-party took over Stage 7 at Austin Studios last Thursday and drew a star-studded crowd that was ready to kick off the festival.

Among those being inducted in the 2013 class were native Texans Robin Wright, Steven Tobolowsky, Henry Thomas and Annette O’Toole. A special tribute to the cast of Dazed and Confused included nearly the entire cast. They were recognized by director-extraordinaire Quentin Tarantino, who joined felllow industry heavyweights Sissy Spacek, Rob Reiner and Michael McKean, and Richard Linklater to induct the latest additions to the Hall.

A grand seated dinner in a tent adjacent to the red carpet followed the cocktail hour and preceded the live auction and inductions. Immediately after the dinner and presentation, guests meandered back to the soundstage for the fantastic after-party, where they joined another group of folks who had arrived for the late night portion of the evening. Dancers, drinks and lots of photos snapped on the red carpet made for a festive environment, once again solidifying this as another night that will be talked about for years to come!
