RECAP: Texas Advocacy Project Black and White Ball

Friends and supporters of the Texas Advocacy Project gathered for the Annual Black & White Ball at the Four Seasons Hotel last Friday, October 17th.  Once again, the hotel ballroom was converted into black and white theme celebration of the good work that the Texas Advocacy Project has done for victims of domestic violence.

The evening’s program kicked off with a tribute to this year’s honorees by Representative Mark Strama, most notably presenting the Courage Award to America Hernandez, as well as honoring Kiff and Doug Doerr for their continuous dedication to the organization and Representative Jason Villalba for his leadership in working to end domestic violence in Texas.

“The 2013 Black & White Ball has come to an end, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. Every year we are graced to raise more funds than the year before- but more importantly we get to share our mission of providing free legal services to victims of domestic violence with so many generous people that otherwise might not know about our work,” said Heather Bellino, Texas Advocacy Project Director of Development and Communication.

“The event raises nearly 30% of Texas Advocacy Project’s annual budget and allows us to provide legal services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking and provide the type of long-term solutions that break the cycle of violence.”
