There’s something about parties on the front-end of Austin’s festivals – they are always good for a stirring energy and a fascinating mix of guests. Pre-ACL Festival, an intimate party at TRACE gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Austin’s new SiriusXM Studio.
Musicians, philanthropists and media mixed and mingled surrounded by roving platters of the restaurant’s delectable treats, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the day’s special guest Willie Nelson.
The crowd itself was filled with special guests like Kinky Friedman, Jerry Jeff Walker, Joe Ely and Jennie Garth weaving in and out of the party. Mayor Lee Leffingwell took to the mic to officially welcome the arrival of the studio and introduce Nelson.
Willie casually spoke with the crowd about the value of the SiriusXM Studio here in Austin and how it can help to promote the undiscovered talent we have throughout our city.
The studio location on Willie Nelson Boulevard, steps away from the red headed stranger’s bronze statue, is more than apropos, as it’s the new broadcast location for the SiriusXM show Willie’s Roadhouse. Nelson and host Dallas Wayne stepped into the studio mid-party and their live broadcast piped in overhead.
Nelson’s SiriusXM channel, Willie’s Roadhouse, channel 56, will broadcast live from the new studio weekdays from 1:00—5:00 pm
