Last Tuesday, community leaders, donors and supporters packed Bauer House, the official home of UT System Chancellor Bill McRaven, for Preludes and Accolades, the kickoff to the annual St. David’s Foundation “Toast of the Town” party series. 2017 Chair Lesa Rossick and Vice Chair Tobie Funte Flannery were on hand as one of the biggest lineups for Toast of the Town was unveiled.
Toast of the Town benefits the St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Program, and once this year’s class is selected, Toast of the Town will have been part of changing the lives of almost 400 students through scholarships to college and medical school.
Among the standout events on tap for this year are a backyard buffet with Edith Royal, Bevo XV and the Texas Cowboys, a dinner at the home of Mayor Steve Adler prepared by Uchi/Uchiko chef Tyson Cole, plus a gathering in a Congress Avenue home featuring presidential historians and authors Douglas Brinkley, HW Brands, and Mark Updegrove.
Last year, Toast of the Town raised over $450,000 for the Neal Kocurek Scholarship fund.
