RECAP: Mad about PINK!

Benefiting Komen Austin

What began as a house party for around fifty people truly came into its own recently at the JW Marrriott. The fact that Komen Austin was able to entirely take over one level at the hotel for “Mad about PINK!” was a feat in and of itself, no doubt thanks to the heavy hitters who support the organization.

A key point of the evening was the presentation of awards to various members of the community for their ongoing contributions. Immediately afterward,  featured speaker and author Jenny Peterson, a breast cancer survivor herself,  spoke to the crowd of more than 400 about how she uses her expertise in gardening to enhance quality of life and heal from the inside while creating balance and wellness.

The festivities kicked off with a cocktail party and a clever take on the silent auction that employed the use of a chalkboard and a lot of erasing! Dinner commenced in the ballroom and after a tightly scripted program, guests moved on to yet another area where gala chairs Karin Foster and Amy Mosier held court over “Club PINK,” a pretty swell after-party.
