The weather could not have been better. Fall breezes swept over the lawn at Lake Austin gem Laguna Gloria last Thursday as The Contemporary Austin presented the 24th annual La Dolce Vita Food & Wine Festival.
After nearly a quarter-century, this venerable event has lost none of its luster. Top chefs from the city’s top restaurants, along with vintners and craft cocktail magicians, provided a gustatory tour of Austin without having to leave the grounds.
Once again, Kevin Williamson (Ranch 616, Star Bar and Rattle Inn) presided over a crowd of nearly 1800 along with help from this year’s Honorary Chef David Bull (Congress, Second Bar + Kitchen and Bar Congress), who chatted with the crowd like it was any other Thursday evening in West Austin. Once the sun set, the atmosphere became even more festive with visually innovative lighting design and creative floral arrangements by ILIOS Lighting Design and Mandarin Flower Co., respectively!
With proceeds benefiting The Contemporary’s education programs, La Dolce Vita continues to be one of the best among the city’s growing food festival scene…and the only one directly benefiting visual arts education.
