The JDRF Austin kicked-off their upcoming Hope Ball last night at the Toast the Cure party hosted by their young professionals supporters. The night at Saks Fifth Avenue was touted an evening of style, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and it was that.
As you moved through the store, it looked like a busy day at Saks. Guests gathered trying on sunglasses, spritzing perfume and perusing clothes. Shopping was encouraged – 10% of sales for the evening would all go back to the JDRF. Even I picked up a little Bobbi Brown for the cause.
In the many store alcoves, bars were set with beverages by Tito’s Vodka and nibbles by La Madeleine were nearby.
Let’s be honest; I love La Madeleine. I would take a cup of their tomato basil soup and strawberries Romanoff over a fancy canapé any day, so this was a welcomed treat.
A fun-filled fashion show of spring trends worn by JDRF supporters ended with an organizational tradition – a toast for the cause and finding a cure.
The event was an affordable one at $25 per person and hoped to raise close to $7,000 by the end of the evening. The funds will be donated back to the JDRF by the young professionals at the Hope Ball May 12th during the paddles up portion of the evening.
