In its inaugural year, the DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) Urban Picnic by Design combined over-the-top design and decadently delicious bites – all benefiting AIDS Services of Austin (ASA) and DIFFA.

Picnic by Design is a signature national DIFFA event, having hosted parties in San Francisco, New York and Dallas. For the concept’s first foray into the Austin scene, chair Kelly LaPlante called on twenty local designers to put their spin on the picnic design.

Each of the decorated picnic tables at Trinity Hall reflected the creative talents of the respective designers and ranged from the whimsical to the chic. Among the crowd favorites was an homage to the critically acclaimed television series “Breaking Bad,” replete with all the accoutrements to get oneself into any number of money-making endeavoras. We’re definitely looking forward to watching this event, and indeed DIFFA itself, grow in Austin.
