All the elements were in place. The tables set just so, the lights ready to put on a visual display, the patrons dressed to the nines, and everyone ready to dine, mingle and dance! Such was the scene at Saturday’s Dell Children’s Light Gala, the unofficial kickoff to the spring social season in our fair city, which benefited Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
Staged by the affable and engaging Sabrina and Jay Brown, the entire team from Dell Children’s pulled out all the stops to entertain the huge crowd assembled in the Austin Convention Center ballroom. A packed to the gills cocktail hour was followed by a fantastic dinner inside an all-engrossing environment of shifting lights, shapes and images.
A lively auction was followed by dancing and casino games. When all was said and done, $1.5 million had been raised for the area’s top children’s hospital.
Spotted in the crowd: Last year’s event chairs Laura and Tommy Craddick, plus Bobbi and Mort Topfer, Bryan Gardner and Armando Zambrano, Rob Giardinelli and Lance Avery Morgan, Michael McGill, Hannah and Cameron Nokes, Chuck and Jennifer Ransom Rice, and Denise Silverman.
