Perhaps owing to the fact that it took place on Valentine’s Day, the 2016 Feed The Peace Awards certainly felt like one big love fest. Supporters from the music, film and philanthropic worlds descended on the Four Seasons Austin for a night full of great food, good conversation and … a whole lotta love!
Darden Smith and his nonprofit SongwritingWith:Soldiers were recognized, while winemaker Austin Hope toasted his “wine-to-water” partnership with The Nobelity Project. Hope Family Wines produces The Turk, a tasty red whose sales help fund clean water projects at Kenyan schools.
Music always plays a big role in this dinner and 2016 was no exception. Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis opened the evening with a tender, sweet version of Willie Nelson‘s “Valentine.” After dinner and a lively auction, guests were treated to an all-star music performance that included the likes of Ray Wylie Hubbard, Kathy Valentine, Gary P. Nunn, Butch Hancock, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Patricia Vonne.
Spotted: Kathy Blackwell and Steve Scheibal, Sergio Durante and Michael Smothers, Maria and Eric Groten, Karen and Rick Hawkins, DJ Stout and Lana McGilvray, and Autumn Rich.
