Texas Book Festival Authors, Rhythm on Stage, Do for Dewberry, Sound on Sound Fest, Disco Ball

FESTIVALS: The Texas Book Festival announced today the first 16 authors for the 2016 Texas Book Festival Weekend, including Newbery Medalists Lois Lowry and Jacqueline Woodson, bestselling novelist Justin Cronin, actress Diane Guerrero, and TBF Founder Laura Bush, along with her daughter, Today Show Correspondent Jenna Bush Hager. The 2016 TBF lineup will feature more than 250 writers and takes place November 5 – 6, 2016.

ARTS: It’s time to dance, shake and celebrate the summer! Rhythm on Stage is back for it’s fifth year at the Long Center. Come learn how to dance on the Dell Hall Stage for free. Schedule includes Brazilian Dance Night (6/30), Bollywood Dance (7/28), and Videodance™ Michael Jackson’s BEAT IT (8/11)!

FOOD: Some of Austin’s favorite restaurants have come together to host  Do for Dewberry, a benefit to help Dewberry Hills Farm repair and rebuild facilities damaged in last year’s tornado and by recent floods. Restaurants participating include Olamaie, Chicon, Contigo, Parkside, Barley Swine/Odd Duck,  Juniper,  Fresa’s Ice Cream and more. Tickets are $55 in advance and $65 at the door.

FESTIVALS: Margin Walker Presents today announced a new festival – Sound on Sound Fest – on November 4-6. Line-up, location and ticket sales will be announced June 28th at 10 am.

NONPROFIT: The Austin PrEP Access Project will host a Sunday afternoon dance party called DiscoBall on July 17th from 4 to 8 pm at Mercury Hall.  This festive fundraiser features DJ Roland Belmares and admission includes complimentary drinks and nibbles.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door.
