Holland Taylor as ANN, ACL Hall of Fame 2016 Honorees, Maker Faire Austin This May, The Wheel Chili Cook Off, Rose is a Rose is a Rose

CHARITY: Holland Taylor ‘s one woman show about legendary Texas governor Ann Richards, ANN, is coming to Zach Theater and hosting a special performance benefiting the Ann Richards School Foundation, April 10th.  Tickets include admission to the performance, followed by an exclusive onstage “talk-back” with Holland Taylor and a wine-and-bites reception.

ENTERTAINMENT: Austin City Limits announced their 2016 class of Austin City Limits Hall of Fame honorees: Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King and Kris Kristofferson. The inductees will be celebrated at a ceremony highlighted by all-star music performances October 12, 2016, at ACL Live at The Moody Theater.

FESTIVALS:  Maker Faire Austin,  an family friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness that celebrates the Maker movement, returns May 7-8 at the Palmer Events Center. Applications are now being accepted online, with a deadline set for March 17. Early bird tickets for children ($9) and adults ($14) go on sale today, February 4, at this link.

FOOD:  The Wheel hosts its first ever chili cook off on Sunday, February 21st. The festivities begin on the patio at 3pm. Bring your crock pots and tasting spoons for a day of community and chili. For those interested in entering the competition, email

ARTS: Women and Their Work announced their theme for the annual Benefit Bash – Rose is a Rose is a Rose. The theme is a nod to two early twentieth century artists: writer and art patron Gertrude Stein and Rose Sélavy, artist Marcel Duchamp’s glorious alter ego. Tickets are now on sale for the event Saturday, April 16th at the Westlake home of Emily and Danny Walker.
