If October is all about music and film, November is all about the arts.
We’ve picked our favorite art party stops we’ll definitely be making this month:
Creek Show: Light Night. For one night, the team at Waller Creek Conservancy is illuminating the dark and sometimes forgotten about Waller Creek for an evening of underground art. The stretch of creek between 5th and 9th streets will be transformed by five light installations designed by local architects and landscape architects Legge Lewis Legge, Baldridge Architects, Thoughtbarn, Jason Sowell, Design Workshop and Jason Sowell.
The event is free and open to the public. It also includes additional celebratory stops at businesses on the creek, including: 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Happy Hour at Easy Tiger; 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. DJ Set by Corduroi at Sabine St. Deck; and 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. Live Music at Empire Control Room (Quiet Company, Marmalakes, Ruby Jane, Calliope Musicals, Peter Schults of Hello Wheels, Julian Acosta) $5 or free with visit to Creek Show: Light Night installations.
Thursday, November 13, 5 pm – midnight. Free. [Event Details]
Forklift Danceworks’ DecaDance. This is not your average fundraiser – it’s a dance party through the decades supporting beloved arts non-profit Forklift Danceworks. The VIP Hour kick-off with signature drinks, hors d’oeuvres and tunes spun by guest DJ Adrian Quesada. At 9:00 pm, the party gets started and goes on all night with DJ Mahealani Williams provding the soundtrack to transport you through the 70s, 80s and 90s.
*Full disclosure – our co-founders Kevin and Laura sit on the DecaDance event committee and Austin Social Planner is a media partner for this event. We are big fans of the organization and will be there Saturday all dressed up and dancing the night away. We hope to see you there!
Saturday, November 15, 8:00 pm VIP Hour, 9:00 pm – 1:00 am. Tickets start at $100. [Event Details]
