Now that the mad rush to Christmas has passed us by, it’s time to start thinking about how to ring in the New Year. Austin Social Planner has scoured the calendar and created a special New Year’s Eve Guide, all the better to make the decision as to where you’ll ring in 2011.
Choices abound … the hottest of which could come via the opening of Congress, one of the most anticipated restaurant debuts in years, featuring legendary Chef David Bull’s imaginative cuisine and an all-star team in the kitchen and behind the bar. Don’t forget to also check out Second Bar + Kitchten and Bar Congress which, along with Congress, comprises the gustatory complex at the base of the Austonian. All three establishments will be open to the public as of December 31.
There are also “parties with a cause” to chose from, with events that range from a blowout at the Seaholm Power Plant benefiting Charity Bash to the Gibson’s Ski Lodge Party (complete with trucked-in snow), which is raising funds for the Trail Foundation. If you’d like to experience something a little more chill, head over to Malverde for their lineup of DJ’s spinning you into 2011, or choose from a plethora of grand hotel and restaurant parties. New Year’s Eve in Austin? We’ve got it covered – just make sure to keep an eye on our Guide.
We’ll be back to our regular coverage on January 3, 2011 so get ready for some new features, columns and more.
Happy 2011 and Cheers!
