Locally Made: An Austin Holiday Gift Guide

with a little help from our friends

The holidays have snuck up on us like a long-lost uncle arriving unannounced for Thanksgiving dinner. Excited to see him, of course, but surprised nonetheless.

In that spirit of fun, we reached out to some of our friends to ask them what locally made gifts they plan to give (and are hoping to receive) this year!

My nearest and dearest will receive a night at the Hotel Saint Cecilia and one of our signature kimonos. I mean, it is the most luxurious gift ever, really.

Crafted in-house by Lenoir proprietors Todd Duplechan and Jessica Maher, this mix of sea salt, pink Himalayan salt, dried herbs and roasted coriander seeds adds delicious depth and texture to just about any food. It’s the perfect hostess gift, stocking stuffer or holiday gesture for those who live in Austin…or simply wish they did.

Hacienda Wildflower Body Creme is the perfect combination of smooth and moisturizing and the scent is heavenly.

I love Maggie Louise Confections’ beautifully designed chocolate boxes to give as gifts year-round, and the Wish Holiday Hues Box is perfect for the holidays!

The gift I would give would have to be Seda France candles created right here in Austin.

I can’t get enough of Outdoor Voices! The colors and styles are perfect for our outdoorsy weather here in Austin!

Maggie Louise Confections chocolates and Confituras jams – locally crafted goodness that’s a feast for the eyes and the mouth. Scrumptious!

Treaty Oak’s Twin Liquors Hand Selected Barrel of Red Handed Bourbon – with its good char and high rye component, this whiskey is balanced with rich and full bodied notes of cherry and wood, and hints of pepper and spice in the finish.

Fashionably chic and tongue in cheek, a print from Betchy Sketch will be the perfect conversational piece to add to my gallery wall at home.

I have music loving friends & family all around the globe, and one of my favorite ways to spread love from Austin is to give the KGSR Broadcast CD which features a sampling of music recorded live and broadcast on KGSR.

SUAVS shoes are soft to the touch, breathable enough for festival wear and great for Austin’s laid-back style. They are perfect for the guy or girl on your list!

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything from local ceramist/artist Keith Kreeger’s studio. Serving pieces, dinnerware — even hats — it’s one of the coolest things we have going in Austin that’s truly made in Austin!

For the meat lover in your life, I would hit up Salt and Time and purchase the Butcher’s Box subscription featuring all kinds of great meat cuts, smoked meats and charcuterie.

I’m a shoe hound, so I’m hoping for a great custom pair of boots from local Austin designer Ross Bennett. There are only a handful of local menswear designers and Ross makes an incredible pair of custom shoes.

Son of a Sailor located in Canopy. This dynamic husband & wife duo create stunning handmade jewelry and accessories with funky color and patterns influenced by geometric forms. These unique gifts are always crowd pleasers.

A bottle of Tito’s paired with their own branded copper mugs, ginger beer and lime all wrapped up & ready for a Moscow mule.

A giftcard to Viva Day Spa because who doesn’t love a spa day?

Whether it’s hot or cold outside, I think about keeping my skin hydrated a lot. A local product I’ve been using for years is Inventive Eco-Organic’s Herbal Healing Emulsion. Developed by skin specialist Marisa Hernandez, this is a must for my dopp kit and something I love to turn friends onto!

I always wait until the holidays to purchase goodies from this classic Austin candy maker. A box of Longhorns is a perfect last minute gift.

A pair of cowboy boots from Allens Boots. I’ve been a Texan for over 24 years so it’s time I added the requisite footwear to my wardrobe.
