It’s hard to believe that a city the size of Austin has only one major publication dedicated to highlighting key players in the gay and lesbian community, but luckily for us L Style G Style makes up for that lack of media presence in spades. The unique “flip-book” magazine was founded four years ago by creative guru Alisa Weldon and then kicked up a notch shortly thereafter by the arrival of east coast transplant and social powerhouse Oliver Everette. Since then, the pair has overseen LSGS as it has evolved into a must-read for not only the LGBT population, but for anyone interested in the people and organizations that make up the fabric of our city, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes.
To celebrate the launch of the January/February 2011 issue (and their belated third anniversary), LSGS is hosting another of their legendary launch parties on Saturday, January 8th. We say legendary because these aren’t your run-of-the-mill magazine debut’s typically held in a nightclub. L Style G Style has invited us to take the stage at Bass Concert Hall, treated us to performances by a slew of Austin’s most inspiring artists, and is now taking us to BMW of Austin to party amidst the plethora of 7-series sedans and X5’s.
Guests will enjoy fabulous food from Fleming’s Steak House and Austin Cake Ball, plus beer from Stella Artois and specialty cocktails from the local distillers at Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka, Paula’s Texas Spirits and Republic Tequila, who will spotlight their special spirit blends. But don’t think that you’ll just be enticed by the food and drink, LSGS has you covered on the entertainment front as well and will feature the pop, rock and eastern soul stylings of Naga Valli. Sounds like a great way for Austin Social Planner to spend a Saturday night. Congrats to you, L Style G Style, for all that you do to help make Austin the great city we know and love!
