Hot Thai with Sway and Getting AWAY

Last week was packed with social possibilities. The pre-opening dinner at Sway on South First and a festive holiday event at the W Austin’s AWAY Spa were just a few of the many that Austin Social Planner made the rounds to.

In what was sure to be the most highly-anticipated restaurant opening as we lurch toward 2013, SWAY opened its doors to some of the city’s most influential tastemakers for a private dinner benefiting the Sustainable Food Center.

The room was filled with media stars, friends of the restaurant, and all the people you would typically go to when you need to know what’s hot in Austin. The gorgeous, dark wood communal tables helped facilitate lively conversations among this highly-social crowd.

Among those tasting the Australian take on Thai food were Andy Langer, Olga Campos Benz and Kevin Benz, Tolly Mosely, Rose Reyes, Jennie Chen, Camille Styles and Adam Moore, Caroline and Jefferson Burruss, Meredith Powell, Matt Curtis and a host of others. We recommend the delicious “Son In Law” dish … and also suggest you get yourself to the chic space on South First as soon as possible.

Just south of the river, AWAY Spa at the W Austin gathered guests to celebrate the season in their modern downtown retreat.  Luxury was around every corner with champagne flowing and complimentary mini massage, facial and manicure treatment s by the AWAY staff.

For those that made the event the first stop of many that evening, the ladies of Blo coiffed hair dos and Gallery D styled guests at their pop-up shop. Their gold sequin shorts were a hit for crews planning their New Years Eve ensembles.

Speaking of New Year, both SWAY and W Austin have New Year plans for their fashionable locales. Check them and many more out on our New Year’s Eve Guide.
