Fashion for Compassion

Fashion. Compassion. Giving. Three words that, when strung together, excite Austin Social Planner to no end. Although we enjoy many fashion events across the city throughout the year, only a few are truly standouts. Leave it to the retail heavy-hitters at Saks Fifth Avenue to provide the home for a fundraiser that incorporates all of the elements of a memorable evening…fashion, food, libations and the excitement of raising much-needed dollars.

On Friday, the Austin Children’s Shelter (ACS) and Saks present “Fashion for Compassion” to benefit ACS. A chic, style show featuring the latest in spring fashions should pique your interest, especially when it features a host of prominent Austinites on the runway, including social stalwarts Bobbi and Mort Topfer, Mary Herr Tally, Donna Stockton Hicks and Dr. John Hogg, among others. The evening will also include live music, an interesting and distinctive live auction, and fabulous shopping for all!

Established in 1984, the Austin Children’s Shelter provides emergency housing and longer-term residential care for children and young adults who have experienced abuse and neglect or are at extreme risk. By providing critical services designed to reduce emotional trauma, plus a teen mom program and services for mature youths who find themselves aging out of foster care, Austin Children’s Shelter can have a long lasting and positive effect on the lives of young people in our community.
