If there was any doubt that summer is quickly approaching, the fine folks from down San Antonio way brought a little heat to the W Austin on a blustery May evening with the explosive launch party for Cinco vodka. Tons of Austin’s finest were on hand to taste the “made from Amber wheat” spirit, in between bite of delicious food and a hot burlesque show that did anything but cool the party down!
Fronted by Trey Azar (big brother of everyone’s favorite lighting designer Bryan Azar) and his lovely wife Kim, Cinco made a grand entrance into the Austin market with no detail left behind. Eclectic visuals lit up the east side of the ACL Live at the Moody Theater and scores of ice sculptures graced the ballroom and outside bars.
Upon leaving, guests were presented with a large box labeled “Cinco” on the side. It was only the next day when we discovered that the box turned out to contain a bottle of Cinco, two martini glasses, and a gaggle of fireworks. Now, we’re not ones to run afoul of the burn ban, but darned if those Black Cats and Roman Candles didn’t make us want to celebrate our independence six weeks early. All-in-all, this was hands down one of the most creative product launches we’ve seen in Austin (aside from during SXSW) in quite some time. Thanks for doing it up, Cinco .. .we’ll be back for more!
