It was a beautiful spring evening on the immaculate grounds of the Umlauf Sculptural Gardens that served as the setting for the annual Umlauf Garden Party. This signature fundraiser for the Umlauf Gardens is an Austin favorite and after attending, we can see why.
The moment guests arrived, they had mint juleps and white sangrias in hand as waiters passed cocktail-hour nibbles. Our favorite was the bite-sized watermelon with a balsamic reduction topped with sautéed red onion and feta – it perfectly prepped our palate for the many delectables to come.
Guests headed through the event space but not before a stop at the large silent auction, featuring decorated garden pots designed by notable Austinites, organizations and artisans.
The heart of the event slowly unveiled itself to the crowd as they descended down to the gardens. Lights cascaded through the trees dancing around the many canopied food and beverage stations. More than 20 restaurants showed off their talents through savory and sweet bites. There were so many to choose and we did our best to try each one.
As the guests began to fill the space, the women’s floral, bright dresses seemed to add to the garden party décor. Festive music played on the open-air stage and it felt like a spring evening should. The entire event had an elegant and effortless feel that few events can pull off and it left us leaving the gardens that evening with a smile.
