RECAP: “A Night with the Stars” Debuts Dancing with the Stars Austin Dancers

Supporters and sponsors of Center for Child Protection gathered at the lovely waterfront home of Andra and Joe Liemandt for “A Night with the Stars,” the official launch party for Dancing with the Stars Austin, presented by Lexus of Austin.

Lexus of Austin had their 2013 Lexus ES 300 Hybrid at the entrance, which is part of the non-profit’s Luxury Car Raffle going on now through December. Inside, Word of Mouth catering swirled around the party with delicious bites and Deep Eddy Vodka mixed delicious concoctions at the bars.

Guests mingled until the big moment when Co-Chairs Carol Adams and Alex Winkelman announced this year’s group of celebrity dancers:

Jerry Albright – Founder Deputy CIO at Teacher Retirement System of Texas
Abby Argo – Color Guard Captain and Community Volunteer
Jamie Barshop – Community Advocate and Charity Fundraiser
Becky Beaver – Attorney at Law
Cyndi Bock – Board Member, Make-A-Wish Foundation
Kevin Burns – Ambassador of the Urban Lifestyle
Doug Guller – CEO, ATX Brands LLC
Will Hardeman – Partner, Continental Automotive Group
Katie Jaffe – Mother, Designer and Humanitarian
Jeff Jumonville – Business Development, Dragon Products
Mary Herr Tally – Retired Arts Fundraiser, Child and Animal Rights Advocate

Much like the television show, each year local celebrities are selected to pair with a dance pro – learning a routine which they perform on the gala night. Each will rumba, salsa and cha cha with hopes of winning the mirror ball trophy.

But, it’s not all for the glory; the annual event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for Center for Child Protection. The 2013 Dancing with the Stars Austin is December 8th at the Hilton Austin and tables are now available for purchase.
