5 Reasons Not to Miss the 10th Annual Big Reds & Bubbles
Some days you look at the calendar and think, “Where did the month go?” November is upon us, and with that comes planning for the month’s social engagements. One of our favorites – Big Reds & Bubbles on November 8th- is a mere 10 days away.
We will be there and have compiled our top 5 reasons you should attend and celebrate the 10th anniversary of Big Reds & Bubbles with us!
The name gives it away – this evening is all about big red wines and the more sparkling varieties. OK, that you may know, but even we were blown away with the sheer volume and quality, which includes 130 wines from 60 different producers all hand-selected by the team at Glazers.
Though wines may be the focal point, don’t dismiss the cuisine. Expect delectable bites at each culinary stop, prepared by Austin’s finest chefs. Participating restaurants include Barley Swine, Swifts Attic, Salty Sow, The Carillon and more.
With the team at Wine & Food Foundation of Texas in-charge and the Driskill Hotel as the backdrop, this will be more than just a sip and stroll – expect an evening of splash and panache. As you arrive in the Bubble Reception, La Marca Prosecco will have “bubble girls” greeting guests with a bubbly glass to start things off on a festive note. Live entertainment, silent auctions and, of course, the food and wine will fill every nook of the grand venue.
In Austin’s new culinary revolution, the teams behind the scenes of local restaurants have become our own version of rock stars. Celebrity Chef Brad Sorenson and Sommelier June Rodil, the emcees for the evening, definitely fit the bill.
Brad Sorenson was on The Next Food Network Star and is opening a restaurant in the Rainey Street District called NoVa. June Rodil just moved into a new position as the Wine Director for a new concept by Paul Qui. She was named “Texas Best Sommelier” in 2009 and “2011 Best New Sommelier” by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas is both the event producer and beneficiary for Big Reds & Bubbles. The non-profit hosts some of our favorite events, with funds helping our thriving food and wine industries grow. To date, The Wine & Food Foundation of Texas has awarded over $197,000 in culinary and pastry scholarships and over $1 million to other organizations through our grants awards program.
