Taste of Mexico 2017

Start your Cinco de Mayo celebrations early with Taste of Mexico! Over 50 restaurants and beverage purveyors will showcase French influence in Mexican foodscapes at the 19th annual event. And this is no boring tasting … think tequila and mariachis. All proceeds from Taste of Mexico support Mexic-Arte Museum’s art education programs.


Official Drink of Austin

Austin Food & Wine Alliance is shaking it up on a Thursday night for the 2017 Official Drink of Austin. Taste all the Austin 2017 cocktail finalists and see the winner crowned by a local celebrity food and entertainment judges. On top of all the delicious drinks, you’ll enjoy bites from some of Austin’s best restaurants.  The 2017 Cocktail Competition Finalists are Alcomar, Clive, drink.well., The Driskill, Frank, Firehouse Hostel and Lounge, Javelina Bar and Kuneho.

We know – two food & drink events in a row. We believe in you. You can do it!


HAAM’s 10th Annual Corporate
Battle of the Bands

Friday, May 5

Bands made up of staff from Cirrus Logic, H-E-B, Athenahealth, Intel, Maxwell Locke & Ritter, Netspend, OpenSymmetry, RetailMeNot, Seton Healthcare and Wenzel Spine are going the let their hair down and rock the ACL Live stage. See if they have what is takes to be named the 2017 Austin Best Corporate Band. All funds support the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.


2017 Derby in the City Music Festival

This year’s Derby in the City is all-in-all a pretty great day. First, you have the “most exciting two minutes in sports” played on jumbotron. Then you have derby fashion with big hats and dapper Dans. Oh, and then the incredible music line-up including: Citizen Cope, Black Pistol Fire, Sweet Spirit, Los Coast and The Watters. We’re big fans of them all, but Sweet Spirit really puts on a good show. Tickets benefit the Open My World Therapeutic Riding Center.


Red, Hot & Soul

Saturday, May 6

Goodness gracious, Red Hot & Soul is back! The annual ZACH Theater fundraiser will have everyone dancing the night away with their Great Ball of Fire themed soiree. Guests will all be in rockabilly glam – they even have a style guide to help you out! The evening is co-hosted by Carla McDonald and Bobbi Topfer, so you know it will be an unforgettable night.


Barton Springs Bathhouse’s
70th Birthday Bash & Splash

Thursday, May 11 & Saturday, May 13

This celebration is actually two – Bash & Splash – celebrating the 70th Birthday of the Barton Springs Bathhouse. The 70th Birthday Bash dinner is emceed by Evan Smith of the Texas Tribune – recognizing Honorary Chair Luci Baines Johnson, who also turns 70 this year.

The Splash Parade and Plunge in Barton Springs follows 2 days later and is a free party for all to join. And after you jump in, there will be cake!



West Austin Studio Tour

Saturday, May 20 – Sunday, May 21

West Austin Studio Tour is the spring sister to the EAST tour in the fall and is contained between the boundaries: west of I-35, east of Mopac/Loop 1, south of HWY 183 and north of William Cannon. For two weekends, 300+ galleries, artist studios, private homes and more open their doors for us to explore their art for free.

WEST also kicks off with a fundraiser Due West, with previews of nearly 300 WEST artists, bites from some of Austin’s best restaurants and entertainment from Dance Waterloo, Elise Moltz (peformance artist), and Senders Receive Tarot. All ticket proceeds will directly support WEST programming.


Fashion X Austin 2017

Saturday, May 13 – Sunday, May 21

Fashion X is back and they have over a week of fabulous events up their perfectly tailored sleeves. This year kicks off with a black tie gala with an international flair – MODA X MEXICO. Every seat is front row for this first time party. The week continues with nightly SOIREE trunk shows, shopping events, runways shows and parties around town. Then, it all closes out with 4 days of RUNWAY &  GALLERY with fashion runways, peeks in notable Austinites’ closets and each benefiting local nonprofits.


Hot Luck Fest

Thursday, May 18 – Sunday, May 21

We saved the new, highly anticipated fest for last. Hot Luck is a festival after our own heart – it features 4 days of the best food and music. We cannot even contain our excitement! You can purchase tickets to individual food events – the Hi Lo and Al Fuego – or shows – Black Lips, Black Joe Lewis, Robert Elis and more. You can also go all in for the The Whole Enchilada package that gets you all these events and more! That’s a way to finish your month full and happy! A portion of the festival’s proceeds benefit The SAFE Alliance.
